DIY PRINT PUBLICATIONS
ARCCA Build Together is a 168-page printed magazine celebrating the impact and ideas of 46 creative community builders.
ARCCA Build Together is our biggest project to date. Starting in February 2023 and arriving in our hands in May 2024, every step was an enriching and magnificent journey. It is a tapestry of ideas and experiences, a book of oral histories, a call-to-action. The voices within the pages span across youth work, music, visual art, poetry, community organisations, film, photography, charities and social work. Through curating the mostly in-person conversations into nine chapters, Build Together uncovers the deep universal threads that run through everyone’s intentions.
Documentation is a necessary thing, and putting conversation into print is empowering. The language and writing is intentionally concise and succinct; removing the ‘what, how, when, where,’ and instead focusing on the ‘why’ of each community builder’s process.
The spaces shared activated moments of celebration and healing. We feel extremely grateful to have built trust with these people, and the next step is to bring the pages to life.
“A pleasure to be documented and contextualized by such a caring and intentional group of people.”
– Contour / Khari Lucas, Cover Star
“We're blushing to be alongside such great artists and collectives from around the world, the magazine putting front and center the voices of queer, POC, migrants and other disenfranchised groups that despite the reality of oppression, are being the engines of the vanguard, moving culture and society forward. Grab your copy! It's full of pretty photos and inspiring conversations, forward thinking visions, and feels like a breath of fresh dissident air.”
– La Fraicheur - founder of House of (S)PUNK, Featured Artist
“The Cambridge Dictionary defines an arc as “the story of one character, especially one that is part of a larger story”. Add a -ca and you get what Fleur and Danny have achieved with ARCCA Magazine. It is a document of community in action, of 46 creators and collectives who aren’t usually granted space in a magazine context yet who do the essential relationship-building work that creates culture. Not the anaemic, plutocratic vision of culture imagined by our politicians, but that of real humans making something to believe in. It’s a bold proposition, one made more impressive by the frankly insane levels of commitment it has required from Fleur and Danny over the past year. 10 years in the making, the story being told in ARCCA Magazine is not only one of resilience, a full magazine brought to life with little more than ambition, 2 laptops and a lot of late nights. It is also something altogether more intangible – a love story. Build together.”
– Matteo Pini, Writer & Journalist
